SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana Police Officers Association was invited as honored guests by the Pio Pico Elementary School staff and families, to their annual Holiday Partner Luncheon. The police association is a founding partner with over twenty-five years of supporting Pio Pico Elementary School’s annual holiday event. Staff also recognized the Santa Ana Police Department for playing a fundamental role of the Pio/Lowell Neighborhood Association being formed in the early 1990s; in which Pio Pico Elementary School served as a hub for the community.
Pio Pico Elementary Dual Language Academy school has a diverse student body of about six hundred students. Principal Lupe Gomez, Ed.D., and retired school principal Judith Magsaysay were present to greet invited honored guests to the school campus.
Pio Pico Elementary School Leadership students Valerie Lopez and Dominick R. assisted the staff and families with the presenting of wrapped gifts for their fellow students.
SAPOA President Gerry Serrano stated, “We strongly support and believe in our youth in the community. They are our future. For years, we’ve had a long-lasting partnership Pio Pico Elementary School and the community, inside and outside the classroom. Today, we feel honored to be invited by the Pio Pico staff and families to be part of their special Christmas celebration.”
Dr. Rigo Rodriguez spoke with the Association President Serrano about future police and student positive collaborations. “When [students] leave school, they don’t interact with our police officers. Anything, that we can do to make sure that we can build that relationship in a positive sense,” said Vice President SAUSD Board of Education Dr. Rigo Rodriguez.
Pio Pico Elementary School staff and families provided holiday traditional caroling and a holiday cultural diverse food buffet for honored and recognized invited community guests.
